About Pat
Patricia Petteway began studying piano in 1961 and has performed professionally since the early 1970's. She has been a private instructor of piano and voice since 1993. Her vocal students have qualified to perform in such selective ensembles as the West Potomac "Bella Voce", "Chamber Singers" formerly "Colonial Singers" and "Sound Sensations" and district/state choirs. Other students have become working singers as well as being accepted to institutions of higher education (i.e., Berklee School of Music...). Piano students have also performed professionally and have qualified for placement in institutions (i.e., Duke Ellington School for the Arts...). Pat is currently the music director at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church.
Performance experience includes engagements with nationally-known artists (both as a group member or opening act) including Stephane Grappelli, Mary Chapin-Carpenter, Emmy Lou Harris, Jethro Burns, Steve Goodman, Bela Fleck, John Hartford...). She has performed at many venues including the Kennedy Center, Birchmere, Baltimore Lyric Opera House, Festivals, etc.
Highlights
"Best Album" awards from the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) with Grazz Matazz (1985), and Al Petteway albums in future years.
Nominated 3 consecutive years for WAMA's "Best Female Vocalist" (1985, 1986, 1987).
Performed on Albums by other artists such as Mike Stein, Jamie Brocket, and collections.
Albums were marketed in the U.S. as well as Europe and Japan.
Began performing at the age of 12 (organist at Good Shepherd Catholic Church), also singing or playing for weddings and other special events.
Piano Guild training began at age 6.
